FEEDLOT

Sugarbag Qld is a registered feedlot for 10,000 Standard Cattle Unit (SCU). It is AQIS accredited for preparation for export for 21,000 cattle, and 28,000 sheep and goats. The surface has been compaction tested and cattle can be held in any conditions due to the surface preparation, which allows any water to run off the feedlot pens, allowing for the pens to dry out quickly.

Due to Sugarbag Yards being owner operated, the rations for the cattle to be held within the feedlot can be discussed. Sugarbag Qld can give guidance on feeding; however, any cattle held in the feedlot can be fed whatever the client wants.

Sugarbag Qld feeds only high quality hay. Hay is sourced from the rich Atherton Tableland farming paddocks. Sugarbag Qld makes every endeavour to hold the hay prices as low as the seasonal conditions will allow, as Sugarbag Qld believes providing good quality roughage to cattle is the secret to weight gains and general contentment within the herds.

Molasses is a very good option for feeding stock. Sugarbag Qld has 100 tonne storage capacity and sources this molasses from the sugar mills in the Innisfail area, which is only 2 hours away by road. Sugarbag Qld has had some very good weight gain results feeding M3U with Hay.
